There are several steel grades that are well suited for use in the construction of pipe lines for systems that have high pressure applications.Which is why, the materials selected in the manufacture of PN-EN 10216-4 Non-alloy and alloy steel tubes may have different minimum yield strength requirements. For instance, the minimum yield strength of steel grade p265nl rounds to about 265 N/mm2, whereas the minimum yield strength 215 N/mm2 corresponds to grade en 0216-4 p215nl1.
These pipes are constructed using standard EN 10216-4, which covers both alloy as well as non alloy steels. Similar to most steels that are intended to be used in pressure based pipe line applications, the en 10216-4 p265nl is designated with the letters P and L. Because the material is either normalized or formed, manufacturers add the letter N to designate en p265nl grade 10216-4. In comparison to welded constructed tubes, the suitability for EN 10216-4 Grade P265NL Alloy Steel Seamless Tubes is much higher for several reasons such as lack of weld seam gives it better strength, makes it more durable and eliminates the cause for intergranular corrosion.
